We want as many people as possible to be able to use our websites. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the websites using a keyboard
- navigate most of the websites using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the websites using a screen reader
- understand the website content, which we aim to make as clear and simple as possible
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability: https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/
We are also working to make sure new content published on the websites is accessible.
How accessible these websites are
The websites have recently had accessibility improvements completed to strengthen their alignment with the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
However, we know some parts of the websites may not yet be fully accessible. These may include:
- some PDF documents that may not be fully accessible to screen reader users
- some older documents or downloadable files that may not be structured correctly
- some colour combinations in website content or documents that may not meet minimum contrast requirements
- some videos that may not yet have suitable thumbnails or supporting accessible content
- some third-party content, embeds or systems that may not be fully accessible
- some content pages or blog posts where heading structures may not always follow the correct order
We are continuing to review and improve these areas over time.

Technical information about these websites’ accessibility
Providence Learning Partnership is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
These websites are partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
Some PDFs and downloadable documents may not be fully accessible. For example, some may not have correct heading structures, meaningful link text, alternative text for images, or reading order suitable for screen reader users.
This may affect WCAG 2.2 success criteria including:
-
1.1.1 Non-text Content
-
1.3.1 Info and Relationships
-
1.4.3 Contrast Minimum
-
2.4.4 Link Purpose
-
2.4.6 Headings and Labels
We are reviewing documents and will aim to improve accessibility when documents are updated or replaced. New documents should be created with accessibility in mind from the outset.
Some pages or blog posts may not use headings in the correct order. This can make it harder for users of assistive technology to understand the structure of the page.
We are reviewing content processes so that headings follow a clear H1, H2, H3 structure.
Some colour combinations used in website content or documents may not meet minimum contrast requirements. We are reviewing these and will update colours where needed to improve readability.
Some video content may need additional accessibility improvements, such as thumbnails or alternative content for users with reduced motion preferences. We are reviewing this as part of our ongoing content management process.
Some third-party content, embedded tools or external systems may not be fully within our control. Where possible, we will work with suppliers or provide alternative ways to access the information.
Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
Some older PDFs or documents may not be within scope if they were published before 23 September 2018 and are not needed to access an active administrative process.
However, where older documents are still required by users, we will aim to provide the information in an accessible format on request.
Live video streams are exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations. Where recorded video is published after a live event, we will aim to make it accessible where reasonably possible.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
Recent website-level accessibility improvements have been completed across the websites.
We are continuing to improve accessibility by:
- reviewing PDFs and downloadable documents
- improving colour contrast where required
- making sure future PDFs and documents are created accessibly
- improving heading structures across pages and posts
- reviewing video content and reduced motion requirements
- reviewing third-party content, embeds and systems where possible
- providing guidance to staff responsible for publishing website content
Accessibility is an ongoing process, particularly where new pages, posts, images, videos and documents are added to the websites.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 1 May 2026.
These websites were reviewed following accessibility improvement work completed in March 2026:
- https://www.durhamsixthformcentre.org.uk/
- https://durham-mathematics-school.org.uk/
The review included a mixture of manual and automated checks across a sample of pages, templates and content types. This included reviewing navigation, keyboard accessibility, page structure, headings, colour contrast, reduced motion support, responsive behaviour and downloadable content considerations.
